Dreamweavers bed and breakfast not only provides accommodation, but also a number of activities to keep you busy during your stay in Devonport.
NARROW NECK, Devonport
If you're feeling active you don't need to venture far from your door.
You'll find public tennis courts, and a gym with squash courts across
the road from Dreamweavers bed and breakfast. The Waitemata Golf Club and course are also
across the road and offer reasonable rates for non-members. And of course
there is always the beach at the end of the road.
DEVONPORT
This seaside village on the northern side of the Waitemata Harbour is
popular with tourists and Auckland residents alike. Having celebrated
its centenary in 1986, modern Devonport is home to a wide range of restaurants,
cafés, galleries and boutique shops. Despite the fact Auckland
is clearly visible across the harbour, it feels a million miles away.
AUCKLAND CITY
The heart of the Auckland region and gateway for international visitors,
Auckland City offers world class restaurants, buzzing nightlife and tempting
shopping options. The centre is easily walkable and ferries link it with
Devonport every half-hour until 11pm on weekdays and 1am on Fridays and
Saturdays.
WAIHEKE AND RANGITOTO ISLANDS
Once the domain of hippies and baches (holiday homes), Waiheke now has
a growing permanent population and is known for its artists, craftspeople
and vineyards. It also has a significantly more temperate climate than
its mainland neighbours. The island is a 35-minute ferry ride from Auckland
and two ferries a day come via Devonport Wharf.
Rangitoto Island is one of Auckland's many extinct volcanoes. Basically
unpopulated, the walk to the top is reasonably easy and passes caves,
volcanic landscapes and local wildlife. The daily ferry comes via Devonport
Wharf.
FESTIVALS AND EVENTS
Devonport is famous for its wine and food festival which takes place annually
in February. It's a chance to taste some of New Zealand's world-renowned
wines and local produce.
Waiheke Island hosts popular jazz and wine festivals each year. The former
is on Easter weekend and the latter usually towards the end of January.
Auckland also plays host to a wide range of festivals, concerts and exhibitions, especially during the summer months.
